Nigerian creators and service providers — barbers, chefs, freelancers, drivers — had no fast, local way to get appreciated for their work. Existing platforms weren't built for the Nigerian market and lacked instant, low-friction tipping that supports local payment methods.

Built tipfy, a platform that gives every creator a personal tip link and QR code. Supporters scan, tap, and pay in seconds, with instant bank payouts and team tip splitting built for how Nigerian businesses actually operate.

Prisma with PostgreSQL for a clean relational schema handling users, teams, recipients, and tip records. Tailwind CSS for rapidly building a polished, consistent UI.

the hard part

Designing a data model that correctly splits tips across teams while keeping instant payouts reliable and auditable. Solved with a clear relational schema that records each tip, its distribution, and payout status, with real-time balance reconciliation in the dashboard.
